Homeless man’s dogs wait patiently outside hospital for his return

It can be very emotionally challenging to work in a hospital, may it be as a medical staff, a doctor, or a nurse.

This is because you get to witness very serious life situations, not just in terms of health conditions but also the many things happening at the background, like hospital visitors looking out for their loved ones, parents accompanying their sick child, and a whole lot more.

But one early morning, in Santa Carina, Brazil, a very heartwarming incident happened that amazed the medical staff of Regional Alto Vale hospital.

Cesar, a homeless man, was admitted at the hospital, one Sunday morning around 3:00 am for a treatment for his chronic illness.

And despite being homeless, he had some friends that accompanied him to the hospital, and to the surprise of Cris Mamprim, the nurse working the night shift, they weren’t humans. They were four dogs.

She also posted this story on her personal social media profile:

“With so many people out there, I came across this scene today. At the hospital in which I work, at 3 am, while its owner (Street Dweller) was being attended, his companions waited at the door. A simple person, without luxury, who depends on help to overcome the hunger, the cold, the pain, the evils of the world, has by his side the best companions, and the exchange is reciprocal. Exchange of love, affection, warmth, understanding.

I don’t know what his life is like, because he’s on the street, and I don’t even want to know and judge him, but I admire the respect and love he has for Seeing them like this, waiting on the door, just shows how much they are well care and loved. Oh if everyone was like this….”

The look on the dogs’ face showed that they were worried and concerned about Cesar, they sat by the hospital door, patiently waiting for their human. These dogs also seemed to be well taken cared of.

For a homeless man as their owner, they surprisingly look healthy and well fed. Cris later find out that Cesar would even skip meals just for these dogs to eat.

When Cesar started feeling better, one of the medical staff was kind enough to let the dogs be with their owner.

She gave him a meal, and as expected, being the loving and caring owner that he is, he just took a small portion of the meal and he later shared them with his four dogs to make sure that they will not go hungry for the rest of the day.

After Cesar’s treatment, his life as a homeless man on the street goes on. But despite this, he goes on with his days happy because he has his furry friends to accompany him.

Despite his life situation, he is not alone, because he has these four dogs to help him get through his days. And not only is he lucky to have these companions, the dogs are too!

Cesar’s story is truly a heartwarming one. He showed the value of being generous, caring, loving, and being selfless. Cesar basically has nothing, but he still gives and gives, even it means not having anything left for him.

Human kindness is still quite surprising, especially in this kind of world climate. Despite the endless news regarding violence, suffering, poverty, and all the other negative events occurring at the present time, things like this are still happening.

It is comforting to realize because even with the bad things happening around, the good is still very much possible.

Cesar is a perfect example of someone who puts others before himself, even if we know for a fact that it is completely acceptable if he does otherwise since he is homeless.

He is truly an inspiration, and a lesson to those who find it hard to be selfless for selfish reasons. We all hope to learn from this. Thanks for the heartwarming story, Cesar!
