Recommended Book:

Too many of us feel trapped in stagnant romantic, family, or workplace relationships. Weighed down by toxic thoughts and emotions, we might be quick to judge and slow to pardon, and self-righteous about our feelings as we dwell on memories of what we or others did (or failed to do). In this new book and CD, Iyanla Vanzant challenges us to liberate ourselves from the wounds of the past and to embrace the new power of forgiveness.

  1. On the book of forgiveness, clever wordings for the weak minded, the Author suggest that we should liberate ourselves from the past, what is the past? tomorrow is the future, today is the present, and yesterday is the past, Seeing that all three becomes the same due to the continuos circle, one could say neither exist, As for forgiveness, What is there to forgive? why should an idividual allow his emotions space and time whereas, to feel the need to forgive another?can such an act be preformed without first judgeing the person?people who forgive others normally use the phrase,”I wont forgive you a second time, E.t.c, which means their forgiveness is conditional, Thus, the only worth while forgiveness is, forgiving oneself, because the complete “You” produces feelings in accordance to acts of negativity and posiitivity, the choice then becomes yours which has nothing to with the selfrighteousness of others..

    1. hmm…does that mean we should forgive murderers, rapists, or sex offenders 2-10 times as we do for liars, drug addicts, and thieves? For me, one offense does it all. I can forgive liars, thieves, and drug addicts multiple mistakes much quicker.

  2. Well said, but on the other side one does not make mistakes, every act by a person is his or her own creation in order to learn and rise above or expand depending on the experience, for e.g, every disappointment is for the better, however, if such is perceived as negative, you give life to it,, the result is often bitterness that leads to anger and possible depression which really is nothing more than manifested ideas,

  3. I’m all for forgiveness and willing to work on rebuilding relationships that are worth saving. This would bring inner peace and build stronger relationships.
